We are a serious study group, committed to personal development
What is Ethicalism ?
Ethicalism provides a framework of ethical living to follow. In doing so, it opens us up to a greater sense of joy and self-worth, along with increased energy and a deeper understanding of ourselves and those around us. Although the Ethics presented are very simple, when practiced regularly with sincere devotion, they can have a profound effect on our life, making us proud of who they are.
OUR PRINCIPLE GOALS: To learn how to:
- Break through limiting beliefs
- Become emotionally free by eliminating our negative tendencies and behaviours
- Correct endless loops of bad habits;
- Be a balanced and contented person
- Gain a deeper understanding of our human nature
- Elevate our awareness and shift our focus away from ego
Everything we learn is applicable to our personal relationships, work, and all aspects of our health and well being. We discuss the challenges of being a human, and all that is encompassed.
Lets face it...we all face many challenges!
This group encourages and facilitates the obtaining of wisdom, the ability to think and act using objective reason, understanding, common sense, and insight, and to take on these challenges with a sense of enthusiasm and fun, a lightness of heart. In order to obtain wisdom, we need to:
- • Have control over our emotional reactions
- Have the capacity to be objective in all matters
- Ask questions about anything and everything we do without fear or hesitation
- Break the habitual nature of automatically and unconsciously acting subjectively
We ask that you read the Meet-up notes and articles recommended for each meeting before you come.
The unique principles we discuss aim to arm you with tools to deal with the challenges of life, and to create significant improvement to your quality of life.
Founder of the group, David Samuel, has spent over 40 years developing, testing, and proving these concepts internationally. David is a philosopher and expert in behavioural psychology who was based here in Auckland for 12 years, 5 years ago. He is originally from Canada, and has been travelling the World building his school, 74 countries to date.

To benefit from the group, come with an open mind, rather than one filled with previously acquired information.
The Zen story of the professor and Zen master exemplifies our group attitude.
A university professor went to visit a famous Zen master. While the master quietly served tea, the professor talked about all the things he studied, his degrees and showing how much he knew of many topics. The master poured the visitor's cup to the brim, and then kept pouring. The professor watched the overflowing cup until he could no longer restrain himself. "It's full! No more will go in!" the professor blurted. "This is you," the master replied, "How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup."
Questions are encouraged as they personalise the understanding, making it much more valuable to each member.
